Guillaume Apollinaire
Guillaume Apollinaire
The French-speaking writer and poet Guillaume Apollinaire led a turbulent life in the twenties. Three loves ended in heartbreak, a shell fragment pierced his helmet and head during World War I, and later came a friendship with Picasso—until his untimely death at a young age as one of the first Dadaist artists. A life marked by struggle gave rise to drawn words: language and image fused together. And eventually, to a room in Hotel Central featuring three poetic visual poems from the collection Calligrammes, inviting you to dream away. To then wake up in a comfortable bed, enjoy a refined bathroom, and have breakfast prepared in a fully equipped kitchenette.
